High Holy Days at the Woodbury Jewish Center

Honoring Our Loved Ones

These holy days convey to us a sense of family togetherness and remind us of the memories we shared with our loved ones who are no longer with us.  At the Woodbury Jewish Center, we offer spiritually meaningful ways to memorialize your loved ones at the beginning of the Jewish New Year.

Yizkor Memorial Book

By placing your loved ones' names in our annual Yizkor Memorial Book, which contains prayers and psalms to be read during the Yizkor Services - recited on Yom Kippur, Sh'mini Atzeret, Pesach and Shavuot - you will be remembering them at these most meaningful of services.

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaque

By erecting a plaque in our Main Sanctuary, their memory will be rekindled.  A light will be lit next to their plaque on the anniversary of their passing, as well as on the four occasions previously mentioned when Yizkor is recited.  Plaques are also available to be ordered as “Reserved” for future use.
Last day to submit plaque orders for this year's High Holy Days arrival is Friday, Aug. 7th, 2020.

Your contribution to the annual Kol Nidre Appeal makes it possible for Woodbury Jewish Center to thrive as the premier Conservative synagogue on Long Island.  Dues alone do not cover all of our expenses.  Your contribution, enables us to maintain our beautiful building and bring meaningful Jewish programming to you and your family.  Every year, we strive for 100% participation in supporting our congregation.  No amount is too small.
